Welcome back to THE ROUNDUP, the newsletter of Val’s Kountry Corral RV Park. We are especially happy to welcome our former newsletter editors, Reid Brenan and Mary Bygrove, Lot 100. They are not new to this job having done this in the past. They both work together and have always accomplished great reading material. Reid has a “nose for news” and Mary does the “proofreading and typesetting”. We are sure that you will enjoy each edition. If you have any news, questions, or information you feel should be reported please see them or call them. The editors will give you all the details in their editorial of what kind of items they would like or need. This job is a huge undertaking and any help in gathering items to be printed will be greatly appreciated. Again, as in many park projects, we can’t do it without you. A very sincere thank you goes out to the editors for taking on this project. As many of you know and others will see this newesletter is very enjoyable and informative. We wish the very best to these editors and assure you that their job will be well done.

Talk about "flattery"…after reading those very kind words about us and everything this job entails, we almost decided to let them find someone else to do this! And, I’m not sure I have a "nose for news". Oh, it’s "big" enough to "smell" a good story alright. I once read that your nose is the one thing on your body that never stops growing. Scary, huh!!
It really does help when someone tells us a story about something that happened to someone in the Park. Something preferably that others might find amusing. However, news is news and we can’t be everywhere in the park every day. We are not going to report every time someone goes to the doctor. The Park is small enough that you would probably know about something like that within 24 hours after it happened!
If you have any suggestions how we can improve the newsletter, please let us hear from you. There are always better ways to do things. So, share your ideas with us. We enjoyed doing this in the past and look forward to doing it again.

A few “new” things happened in the Park over the summer. One of those you will notice has been built on the northwest corner of the pool area. This is called a “palapa”. It will be a welcomed addition for those who want some place to get out of the sun when not swimming. You will also find new tables and chairs have been added under the “palapa”. A new “well” was drilled at the east end of the Park, replacing the original well. New water lines had to be run. A job that took considerable time to do. The front of the Rec hall, the part known as the marquis, had extensive work done on it and new “old” wagon wheels replaced the original ones.
New Rules & Regulations
Each of you have received a copy when you checked in. I strongly suggest you do read them. There have been some significant changes you will need to know about. You can't say, "I didn't warn you".

First 50/50 Drawing
The winners of the first 50/50 drawing were Gary and Penny Wilson. The total amount sold was $236.00. Their share was half of that. Considering this was the earliest in the season we have ever had a 50/50, I think this was very good. Mary would like to thank all of you who participated, as well as the helpers who sold the tickets… Barbara Johnson, Keith Bruining, Jan Moshier and the Cordova’s.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Not a big turnout, but boy did we have lots of food! Those who left the table hungry had nobody to blame but themselves. Friday evening many brought back the ’leftovers’ and we ate well again. A big “thanks”to the Park for the turkeys and ham.

Monthly Calendar
Each month all of you receive in your mail box a calendar showing the days and times of events taking place for that month. There are, from time to time, other things that come up after the calendar is printed. So, it is always a good idea to check the bulletin board in the Rec hall a couple of times each week to see if something new has been scheduled.

Watch for the Traveling Dog
“Walkabout Wally” will soon be roaming the Park. Some of you who are new to the Park may be asking, “Who”? This is a “fun” tradition that started several years ago when someone found a three foot plaster “fish” that had been discarded. It was repainted and during the night was placed in the yard of another resident, more as a joke than anything. Well, after a few days this person moved it to another yard . This went on for a couple of years before it met its demise. It was replaced by the “Double Ugly Dog” family who made the rounds for a couple of years and then “mysteriously” disappeared. Like I said, this is nothing more than a “fun” tradition. However, we do have some in the Park who do not wish to have Walkabout Wally on their yard. So, please make note of the following lots where “Wally” is not welcome. They are lot 8 and lot 23. If there are others who do not wish to have “Wally” visit, please let me know and I will add your name to that list. If he shows up on your lot by accident, PLEASE DO NOT THROW HIM AWAY OR DESTROY HIM. Call 519-8007 (lot 100) and we will come and get him. For those who want to participate in this “fun” tradition, let “Wally” stay no longer than a week and then sneak him to someone else’s lot.
Newspaper Pickup
Each Wednesday morning is newspaper pick-up day. Be sure and put newspapers in a plastic bag and tie it. Fold cardboard and set newspapers on top of cardboard. Place both at the end of your walk before 9:30 a.m.

5 MPH Speed Limit
In the past I have written numerous articles regarding the speed limit in the Park. Some in the Park think it is stupid to have a 5 MPH speed limt. But they are probably the same ones who run 10 to 15 mph over the highway limit. I'm happy to say that these people are in the minority…thank goodness. None of us would be happy to see "speed bumps" installed. Obey the 5 mph speed limit and this will never happen. Always remind your visitors about the speed limit.
Save $$ with Fiesta Book
This is a coupon book that is available at the office. There are all kinds of deals to save money on. The coupons for restaurants alone will save you more than what the book costs, which is $10.00. The Park gets a percentage of each book sold and that goes in the Activities account.
Park Web Page
Those of you with computers….which are most of you today….might enjoy going to this web page occasionally, or giving the address to friends and families back home. Pictures taken in the Park can be seen there. The Web Page is: www.kountry-corral.com.

Volunteers Needed
We are a small Park, but have many things going on for our size. These things do not just happen by themselves. It takes people to make them happen. And, none of them require a rocket scientist I.Q. Take a look at the bulletin board and see what kind of help we need and sign up. Most jobs you volunteer for will never require more than three or four hours out of your day to do. Your help wll be very much appreciated.
Palm Sunday
It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for. "People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by". "Wouldn't you know it," the boy fumed, "The one Sunday I don't go, he shows up!"
.......... 'til next time
